Adventures with the fam visiting us in Belize

Having fun with my family. Mom and dad came to Belize for the first time. They got to stay a month, a few days with us here and there. We made dad banana popsicles! Bananas area 10/$1 here, so it was a good cheap snack. We hung out in Placencia at the beach a day or two. Took them in the ASL ministry, & they went to a pool party with a bunch of the deaf and  hearing friends here in San Ignacio.

Visit to b the Mayan Ruins

So after picking up mom, dad and Sherie from the airport we decided to get touristy. We went and visited the Xunantunich Mayan Ruins. Said to be up to 2000 years old it was quite a site to see. Here's some pics.

Life in Belize
Darins turn for an assignment on the school program. His assistant was a deaf brother. Together they did an awesome job demonstrating a bible study with a deaf student.
We are surprised to find a pretty good selection of food here in San Ignacio, so we actually eat! We burn some off by walking up and down the many hills, and the rest by dancing!
On a sad note...We had to say good bye to many friends this month. Hope they will come back and help out here some more. And hopefully I will be here to see it!

Assignments on the new school program

Yeraldi & I had assignments on the first week of the new program. Mine was a two minute demo of what to say the first time you meet a deaf person in the territory. My friend Gail from northern Cali was my assistant! We had fun, even tho I was a bit nervous. The new program every week at our meetings is so instructional, I feel like we gain so much knowledge & practical wisdom from each week. Thanks so much to the GB!

Placencia

We took our friend, who visited us from California for a month, to Placencia to see the Caribbean Sea fur her first time ever. It was rainy on the way there, but we had one really nice beach day. She even bought some fresh caught Barracuda for dinner! It was great! Barracuda is delicious!

Working with the deaf

Several days a week we spend searching the surrounding neighborhoods & villages for the deaf/mute hard of hearing ones who want to learn. We enjoy a beautiful scenery, get to know new friends, and meet the deaf and their family. We have found several deaf who really enjoy having a personal bible study, some need language lessons as well since they did not get much or any formal education.

Between work we relax!

We walk a few hours a day out in the heat (75-95°+85% humidity), searching for the de,af & sitting in on the bible studies with the deaf or their families. So to refresh ourselves we not only hang out with new friends but enjoy the beautiful surroundings too!

We went to the caves and the little blue whole that you have to hike to (we swam in the super cool water)! Then another day we found a resort with a pool that you can pay to use for the day. It had a beautiful view!
